Adrienne M. Koller, MA, LPC

Trauma Therapist in TX, VT, FL, ME, & SC

I believe you have better days ahead.

You’re in the right place.

When you work with me, you are getting a real person, someone who has lived through real-life experiences that you can probably connect with on some level. With me, you get someone who has recovered from childhood abandonment (numerous times), an adoption gone terribly wrong, juvenile delinquency, drug addiction, sexual assault, being a high school dropout, teen pregnancy, multiple failed marriages, single parenting, and abusive relationships. Need I go on?

I am also someone who got herself clean from teen drug addiction and has been for many, many years. Someone who worked two full-time jobs while putting herself through college full-time as a single parent, and managed to earn a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees: all while being a high school dropout. Someone who has built a solid life and profession for herself - I’ve worked in corrections and law enforcement, raised truly amazing and successful kids, renewed my faith, and am now stronger than I’ve ever been. I’m someone who supports her community, gives back to my law enforcement/1st responder and military community who are near and dear to my heart and I still work to help people who make bad choices. All of these things are a reflection of who I am inside.

Someone once told me that I’m a Thug and according to his definition, Thug means survivor. Well, you bet your ass I’m a Thug, and proud of it! You see, I turned hardship into strength, bad choices into learning opportunities, anger into forgiveness, and pain into healing. And given the chance, I can help you to do the same.

What is therapy with me like?

I believe therapy should be…….

Comfortable and Real

Everything you’ve thought or experienced in therapy in the past, throw it out the window. Therapy with me is different and I do that because I want this to be comfortable and real. No fluff, no therapist jargon, no censorship. Just you meeting with a real person, with real-life experience, who gets you. I’m not Frasier Crane, I’m not going to freak out if you cuss or yell in our sessions. You can cuss, yell, cry, whatever you need to do to process; therapy isn't charm and beauty school. It’s your therapy and I want you to feel comfortable to be you: to be authentic, to be able to do the deep work you need to do to heal. And you’ll get the same from me. You’ll get my NY Yankees, heavy metal/rock/country/80’s/rap loving, muscle car racing, Lord of the Rings/Fast and Furious, chick flick and horror film watching, dark humor perspective coupled with my law enforcement background and soft spot for working with first responders, military/veterans, and people who have experienced a sh*t ton of trauma in their lives. That’s basically me wrapped up in a nutshell.

So, that’s my authenticity and honesty, which have always worked for me. I share about myself to build connections with my clients to be real: no masks, no pretending, just being 100. That’s why my 1st responder and military clients feel comfortable texting me "F@#K!!" when they realize they’ve forgotten a session and I know that means, “dammit, I'm sorry, I forgot my appointment, my bad”. That’s the rapport we build together, and I want you to understand that because you won’t find that with a lot of other therapists. Like I said, I’m not like most other therapists and that’s why the people who work with me chose me. They feel comfortable with me and trust me and that means everything to me.

If you’re looking for someone who is going to do all the work for you and fix you, that’s not me… if you’re looking for someone to sit here and tell you it’s okay to feel sorry for yourself and give up, that’s not me either. If you are looking for the metaphoric hand-holding walk beside you on your journey, woo-woo type therapist, that is definitely not me! I'm not for everyone and that's okay, there are therapists out there who fit the bill for them.

With me you’ll get authentic, non-judgmental therapy where I'll challenge, push, and motivate you to achieve your goals. Together, we'll turn adversity into strength.

………to find your strength within

………to feel alive again

…….to feel hope again

The ball is in your court……

Therapy with me isn’t all “just talking”.

We’ll also work on real, practical skills that you can apply to your day-to-day life.

I am trained in a lot of different modalities, which I won’t go into detail here because it’s a long list of boring acronyms and information. What I will tell you is that I have advanced training in working with trauma and PTSD, anger management skills, anxiety, etc. I’m also really good at helping you figure out how to get your life organized; come up with plans to implement a schedule, start taking better care of yourself, communication skills, or just listen if you need to vent. My point is, whatever you need, we will figure it out, together. Am I trained in things? Yes, I am. If you’re truly interested in what they are, here they are.
