International Online Counseling for English-Speaking Adults

Flexible Scheduling

Trauma - Informed

Finding the right mental health professional isn't always easy.

You may live in a country where English isn't the primary language. You may prefer discussing emotionally complex experiences in English. Or you may simply want a counselor whose style, expertise, and therapeutic approach align with what you're looking for.

You do not have to be an expat or an American citizen to inquire about services.

Strong Self Psychotherapy welcomes inquiries from English-speaking adults, including:

  • Citizens living in their home countries

  • Permanent residents and other local residents

  • Americans living abroad

  • Expats and international professionals

  • Individuals and families navigating international relocation

  • Adults seeking English-language trauma-informed counseling

Your nationality alone does not determine eligibility. Before services begin, applicable professional regulations, your physical location, and clinical appropriateness must be reviewed.‍ ‍REQUEST A CONSULTATION

A Direct, Compassionate Approach to Therapy

I don't believe in telling people what they want to hear just to make them feel better for an hour. I believe in helping people understand themselves and make changes that actually improve their lives. That means creating a therapeutic relationship grounded in compassion, honesty, accountability, and respect.

My trauma-informed approach draws on evidence-based therapeutic principles and practical strategies to strengthen emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and support meaningful behavioral change. We work collaboratively, but therapy requires active participation. I'm not here to fix you. I'm here to help you recognize your own capacity to confront what you've been carrying, change what isn't working, and build a life that reflects who you want to become.

A Little About Me: A Personal Connection to Europe

Europe isn't just somewhere I've traveled. It's part of who I am.

I was born in Germany and raised in Switzerland, giving me a personal connection to European life, culture, and the experience of navigating different environments and perspectives.

As a U.S.-licensed mental health counselor and founder of Strong Self Psychotherapy, I bring both my personal background and professional experience to my work with English-speaking adults internationally.

I specialize in trauma, burnout, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My approach is direct, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that understanding your past is important but allowing it to dictate your future isn't necessary.

My goal isn't simply to help you cope with life. It's to help you build the strength, insight, and resilience to live it differently.

How International Virtual Counseling Works

Step 1: Request a Consultation

Reach out and provide your current country of residence, along with a brief description of what you're seeking help with.

Step 2: Confirm International Counseling Eligibility

Before scheduling services, we'll review whether online counseling can be provided based on applicable professional regulations, your physical location, and your individual clinical needs.

Some international inquiries may not be eligible for services.

Step 3: Schedule Your Virtual Counseling Sessions

If services are appropriate and legally permissible, we'll discuss scheduling, time-zone differences, and the practical requirements for participating in confidential online counseling.

Sessions are conducted in English through a secure telehealth platform.

Step 4: Begin the Work

Counseling is individualized according to your goals and concerns.

Together, we'll examine what's contributing to your current difficulties, identify underlying patterns, and develop strategies to support lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions About International Online Counseling

Can I receive online counseling from a U.S.-licensed therapist if I live in another country?

Potentially. Different countries have different professional and regulatory requirements governing cross-border mental health services.

Eligibility depends on the laws and requirements applicable to your physical location during sessions, the counselor's professional credentials, and whether virtual outpatient counseling is clinically appropriate.

Do I need to be a U.S. citizen to work with Strong Self Psychotherapy?

No. Strong Self Psychotherapy welcomes inquiries from English-speaking adults of different nationalities.

This includes local citizens and residents, Americans living overseas, US Service members, and expats. Whether services can actually be provided depends on applicable legal and professional requirements rather than citizenship alone.

Can citizens of Germany, England, Ireland, Portugal, France, or Switzerland request counseling?

Yes. Citizens and residents of these countries are welcome to inquire.

However, submitting an inquiry does not guarantee that counseling services can be provided. Eligibility must be reviewed based on the relevant jurisdiction and the circumstances of the prospective client.

Do you provide counseling in languages other than English?

Counseling services are currently conducted in English.

Can online counseling help with trauma, anxiety, burnout, or relationship difficulties?

Virtual counseling may be appropriate for many adults experiencing these concerns.

Treatment recommendations depend on the individual's symptoms, needs, clinical presentation, and whether outpatient telehealth services are appropriate.

Can I continue counseling when traveling between countries?

Not automatically.

Your physical location during a session may affect whether counseling can be legally provided. Please discuss travel or relocation plans in advance so eligibility can be reviewed.

What happens if I need emergency mental health support while living internationally?

Strong Self Psychotherapy is an outpatient counseling practice and does not provide emergency or crisis intervention.

If you are experiencing an immediate mental health emergency, contact emergency services or an appropriate local crisis provider in the country where you are located.
